The Solar Energy Corporation of India has issued a request for selection tender for 650 MW of new solar PV capacity in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

This extra PV capacity is part of the JNNSM’s phase II, batch IV tranche, and will comprise 500 MW of normal grid-connected solar capacity and 150 MW issued under India’s stringent Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) rules, which are meant to ensure that a fair proportion of India’s solar growth comes via locally-produced solar components.

Under the JNNSM, phase II batch IV has a total capacity of 5 GW of grid-connected solar, of which around 1.6 GW have already been tendered prior to this latest announcement by SECI.
