Today Fortum won the right from Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Ltd. to build a 250 megawatt (MW) solar power plant in Pavagada solar park in Tumkur district, Karnataka, India. Commissioning of the plant is expected in the third quarter of 2019. The capital expenditure is estimated to be approximately EUR 120 million and the solar park will be entitled to a fixed tariff of 2.85 INR/kWh for 25 years. Fortum already has a 100 MW operating plant in Pavagada solar park.

Tata Power Renewable Energy, India's largest renewable energy company and Tata Power's wholly-owned subsidiary, has entered into a Power Purchase Agreement with GE to provide solar rooftop solutions for six manufacturing and services sites in India. Tata Power will install solar rooftop projects at manufacturing sites located at Durgapur in West Bengal, Pallavaram and Hosur in Tamil Nadu, multi-modal manufacturing site at Pune and upcoming factory at Marhowra in Bihar and maintenance facility at Roza in Uttar Pradesh. The project would be executed on build-own-operate basis.

The solar module manufacturer Astronergy is profiting from the favourable market conditions in the wholesale sector. The company has won over a majority of electrical and photovoltaics wholesale customers who previously obtained their modules from SolarWorld. Astronergy’s solar modules are produced in one of the world’s most cutting-edge factories at its Frankfurt (Oder) site, Germany, and are sold via wholesale partners.
