Shakti Pumps, a leading Indian solar pumping company and a significant player in the renewable energy sector has achieved a significant milestone by securing its first commercial order under the PM‐KUSUM scheme Component‐C. Ajmer Viduyt Vitran Nigam Limited has awarded Shakti Pumps a contract worth ₹149.71 Crores, emphasizing India’s commitment to harnessing solar energy for sustainable agricultural practices and promoting an Aatmnirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India).

This project involves the replacement of inefficient electric pump sets with advanced BLDC Solar Pump sets, which will run on solar-generated power. Surplus electricity can be sent back to the grid, benefiting farmers across India. It enhances irrigation capabilities, reduces dependence on traditional energy sources, and provides opportunities for farmers to earn from surplus power sales to Discoms.

Chairman of Shakti Pumps, Dinesh Patidar, highlighted the transformative impact of this initiative, turning farmers into “energy providers.” It is expected that Discoms can recover the pump set cost of ₹10 lakh in 5 years by saving up to ₹2 lakh annually on energy bills, while farmers may earn up to ₹50,000 per year and ₹2.5 lakh in 5 years by selling excess power to Discoms. This initiative empowers farmers, enhances irrigation capacity, and reduces reliance on conventional energy sources, ensuring energy security for farmers across India.

The scheme also benefits Discoms by allowing them to purchase electricity from farmers at ₹3 per unit and sell it at ₹6 per unit, promoting energy efficiency and national energy security while reducing the tariff subsidy burden. It aligns with India’s goal of achieving 40% installed capacity from non‐fossil fuel sources by 2030.

This initiative not only modernizes the agricultural sector but also reduces environmental pollution. It marks a significant step toward prosperity for farmers and the nation by promoting Micro Irrigation, ensuring higher crop yields, improved produce quality, and better prices for agricultural products.

Shakti Pumps is proud to be a part of this transformative initiative and is committed to contributing to India’s sustainable future.
