Altano Energy, a prominent renewable energy platform operating in Spain and Italy, celebrates the successful connection to the grid of two new solar plants in Puertollano, Ciudad Real. These plants have collectively generated an impressive 83,230MWh of energy, equivalent to the consumption of 28,065 homes.
Marking Altano Energy’s maiden photovoltaic (PV) projects, these plants stand alongside 60MW of operational hydroelectric generation in the region. Additionally, Altano Energy is actively developing nearly 200MW of wind, solar, and hybrid projects.
The Puertollano and El Villar projects represent a significant stride in Altano Energy’s expansion within Spain, contributing to a diverse portfolio encompassing development, operational, and nearly 2GW of energy generation capacity. Exus Management Partners (Exus), a globally renowned renewables asset manager, has played a pivotal role in these projects by overseeing their construction, grid connection, and now offering operation and management services.
Operating at full capacity, both 32MWp plants, alongside a 220kV substation, have surpassed expectations by achieving an 83% performance index, successfully fulfilling their energy generation goals since completion.
Iรฑigo Sรกnchez-Junco, Altano Energy’s COO, expressed pride in reaching this milestone, underscoring the strategic significance of the Puertollano projects in building a robust asset portfolio. He acknowledged Exus’ crucial technical support, which has maximized performance, enhanced efficiency, and mitigated investment risks.
Natalia Ordรณรฑez, Exus’ Development and Construction Director for Europe, highlighted their integrated approach, ensuring a seamless transition from construction to operational stages, leveraging skilled teams and meticulous project management for excellence in operations.
These projects signify a substantial contribution to the Spanish renewables sector, aligning with the country’s ambition to reach 160GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030. The collaboration between Exus and Altano Energy reinforces the leadership of the Castilla-La Mancha community in Spain’s PV power, constituting around 25% of the national total, and underscores the region’s commitment to clean energy with 83% of its total power generated from renewables.
