In a significant leap towards sustainable energy practices, Manila Water has inked a groundbreaking Fifteen (15) Years Solar Facility Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Ditrolic Energy Philippines. This collaborative effort aims to implement 2.5-megawatt peak (MWp) solar projects across three key Manila Water facilities.

The PPA sets the stage for the construction and management of solar facilities that will seamlessly integrate renewable energy into Manila Water’s existing energy matrix. Anticipated to substantially reduce daytime peak energy demand from traditional electricity sources, these facilities mark a pivotal shift towards environmentally conscious energy consumption.

Manila Water’s President and CEO, Jocot de Dios, affirmed the company’s commitment to environmental stewardship, stating, “This project with Ditrolic Energy will be valuable for us in delivering essential services while continuing environmental stewardship for a sustainable and resilient future.”

Ditrolic Energy Philippines is entrusted with the responsibility of constructing and overseeing the solar facilities at three strategic Manila Water locations. The East La Mesa Water Treatment Plant will house a 0.5 MWp facility, the Cardona Treatment Plant will feature a 1.0 MWp installation, and the San Juan Reservoir will host another 1.0 MWp solar project.

The 15-year commitment underscores a shared vision for a greener, more resilient future.
