Jordan’s Ministry Of Health And AstraZeneca Pioneer Green Hospitals With Solar Panel Installing Initiative

Jordan’s Ministry of Health and AstraZeneca have joined forces in a groundbreaking agreement aimed at contributing to the sustainability initiative of establishing Green Hospitals in Jordan.

The signing ceremony occurred during COP28, the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Dubai. The agreement, focusing on developing a “green hospital accreditation framework,” addresses the health industry’s significant contribution of approximately 5% to global greenhouse gas emissions annually.

The initiative, incorporating solar panel installations and water purification systems, seeks to create more sustainable and low-carbon healthcare by 2024.

AstraZeneca emphasizes its commitment to building a sustainable healthcare future, recognizing the interconnected impact of climate change on health and the environment.

The agreement aligns with AstraZeneca’s broader efforts at COP28 and its Ambition Zero Carbon program, reinforcing the company’s dedication to global decarbonization.

The CEO of AstraZeneca, Pascal Soriot, further demonstrated the company’s commitment by participating in a COP28 event focused on “Reimagining Sustainable Healthcare” in the Middle East and North Africa region, highlighting the importance of driving momentum towards resilient healthcare systems.
