Bunge, a global powerhouse in agribusiness, food, and ingredients, has recently entered into a decade-long agreement with Genneia to procure renewable energy for its facilities across Argentina. Starting in March 2024, Bunge’s plants in Campana, Ramallo, San Jerรณnimo Sud, and TFA (Terminal de Fertilizers Argentinos SA) in Puerto General San Martรญn will benefit from this partnership, accounting for 58% of their total annual electricity consumption and approximately 40% of Bunge’s overall electrical energy usage in the country. Genneia will supply renewable energy sourced from its portfolio of wind and solar farms.
This strategic move aligns with Bunge’s commitment to meet its science-based targets (SBT), which aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, chiefly by ramping up the utilization of wind, solar, and other renewable energy sources. Verรณnica Imoda, Director of Industrial Operations in Argentina, emphasized Bunge’s dedication to sustainability, stating that concrete measures like this agreement are integral to shrinking the company’s carbon footprint while maintaining its mission to supply food, ingredients, and fuels safely and sustainably worldwide.
