Gentari Sdn Bhd, a leading provider of clean energy solutions, has signed a Heads of Agreement (HOA) with SEDC Energy Sdn Bhd (SEDCE) to establish the Sarawak H2 Hub, a centralised hydrogen production facility in Bintulu, Sarawak. Witnessed by Sarawak’s Premier, this initiative aligns with the state government’s emphasis on cleaner energy usage and marks a significant step towards establishing Sarawak as a commercial hydrogen producer by 2027.
The partnership aims to develop a global-scale hydrogen production hub to supply green hydrogen to downstream facilities in the Bintulu division. Managed by a joint venture between Gentari and SEDCE, the hub will optimize hydrogen production projects in the region and contribute to Malaysia’s vision of becoming a clean hydrogen hub in ASEAN.
Michรจle Azalbert, Chief Hydrogen Officer at Gentari, emphasized the importance of hydrogen in decarbonizing energy, transportation, and petrochemical sectors globally, highlighting its rising significance and demand for low carbon hydrogen derivatives.
Robert Hardin, CEO of SEDCE, highlighted the strategic importance of the partnership in advancing Sarawak’s role in the energy transition and attracting new investments in the new energy sector.
Previously, Gentari and SEDC Energy had collaborated under a Strategic Collaboration Agreement to explore integrated clean energy solutions and contribute to policy development in Sarawak
