Bright Green Corporation announced today its plans to install a 102-megawatt solar field to power the electricity and heating needs of the new $250 million Dalsem expansion project in Grants, New Mexico. This initiative underscores Bright Green’s commitment to carbon neutrality by transitioning its existing facility, currently reliant on natural gas and heavy oil, to solar energy.

The company has initiated a bid process and is collaborating with several solar installation companies based in New Mexico to establish the 102-megawatt solar power generation field. Upon successful bidding, the project will include a Power Purchase Agreement with local utilities to purchase excess power during peak times. Additionally, Bright Green will install three high-efficiency boilers manufactured by Precision Boilers, LLC, powered by the new solar field, to meet heating requirements during periods of low sunlight.

The VP panels for the solar field will be sourced from Maxeon Solar Technologies, based in Singapore, for the new state-of-the-art solar manufacturing plant in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

In committing to clean renewable energy for its energy needs, Bright Green aims to supply heat and electricity to both its existing 1 million square feet facility and the 7 million square feet expansion. The company estimates substantial cost savings over the 30-year lifespan of the equipment.

Financing for the project will include EB-5 funding and additional support from federal infrastructure grants, loans, and margining supply contracts for Bright Green’s “Drugs Made in America” platform. The construction of the solar field is expected to take approximately 30 months, allowing the company to manage its EB-5 investment job creation opportunities effectively.

Lynn Stockwell, the founder and Chairwoman of Bright Green Corporation, emphasized the alignment of the team with the decision, highlighting the benefits of renewable energy in reducing substantial heat and electric costs annually. She underscored the importance of innovation and long-term efficiency for the company’s future growth, expressing confidence in the economic and ethical advantages of transitioning to clean energy sources.
