The Dubai Supreme Council of Energy (DSCE), led by HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, convened its 81st meeting virtually, focusing on sustainability strategies and infrastructure development.
In attendance were key figures including HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of DSCE, and HE Ahmed Buti Al Muhairbi, Secretary-General of DSCE, along with other distinguished board members.
The council reviewed updates on the Demand Side Management Strategy for 2030 and 2050, aiming to reduce water and electricity consumption through various green initiatives. These include green building activities, building retrofits, efficient industrial and government facility operations, and the utilization of treated wastewater and efficient lighting and cooling systems.
HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer emphasized the importance of these initiatives in line with the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, focusing on promoting a green economy and sustainable development.
HE Ahmed Buti Al Muhairbi highlighted the significance of regularly updating strategies to ensure alignment with sustainable development goals for Dubai.
Additionally, the council discussed recommendations to bolster the infrastructure for electric vehicle charging stations across the Emirate, aiming to support private companies in line with the public-private partnership model. Currently, Dubai boasts over 49,300 electric and hybrid vehicles with more than 390 charging stations, a number expected to increase significantly in the near future.
