NTPC and NGEL Sign MoUs with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam for Supercritical Units, Renewable Energy, and Green Hydrogen Projects

NTPC and NGEL have signed separate non-binding Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with RVUNL at the Chief Ministerโ€™s Office in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The MoU between NTPC and RVUNL will explore opportunities to incorporate supercritical units into the existing Chhabra Thermal Power Plant.

Additionally, the parties intend to implement measures to enhance efficiency and reduce the generation cost of the plant’s existing units. Furthermore, the MoU includes the undertaking a15 to 20-year annuity-based Renovation and Modernization (R&M) of RVUNL’s old thermal units by NTPC or its affiliates.

The MoU was signed by Shri R Sarangapani, Executive Director, BD, IBD & Consultancy, NTPC, and Shri Devender Shringi, Chairman and Managing Director, RVUNL. The MoU between NGEL and RVUNL focuses on the development of Renewable Energy Projects and Green Hydrogen Derivatives up to capacities of 25 GW and 1 million tons, respectively, in the State of Rajasthan.

This MoU was signed by Shri Rajiv Gupta, Chief Executive Officer, NGEL, and Shri Devender Shringi, Chairman and Managing Director, RVUNL. The signing ceremony was graced by esteemed dignitaries including Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma, Honโ€™ble Chief Minister of Rajasthan; Shri R K Singh, Honโ€™ble Minister of Power and New and Renewable Energy, Govt of India; Shri Pralhad Joshi, Honโ€™ble Minister of Coal & Mines, Govt of India (both connected virtually); Smt. Diya Kumari, Honโ€™ble Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan; Shri Heeralal Nagar, Honโ€™ble Minister of State for the Energy Department, Government of Rajasthan; Shri Amrit Lal Meena, Secretary Coal, Govt of India; Shri Sudhansh Panth, Chief Secretary of Rajasthan. Representing NTPC Ltd, Shri Gurdeep Singh, Chairman and Managing Director, Shri D.K Patel, Director (HR), Shri Vivek Gupta, Independent Director, and other senior officials were present to mark the occasion.
