Aspen Power, a distributed generation platform dedicated to advancing and democratizing decarbonization, has acquired eight ground-mounted solar projects in Pennsylvania and New York State from Solar Site Developers. This acquisition includes sites with a combined capacity exceeding 41 megawatts of direct current (MWdc).
Aspen Power has acquired the projects from Solar Site Developers and will co-develop them. Currently in the engineering design phase, construction is slated to commence in the coming months. The Pennsylvania projects will operate under the state’s Alternative Energy Portfolio Standard Act, while the New York projects will offer bill credits to utility customers through the Value of Distributed Energy Resources (VDER) program.
Simultaneously, hosting solar installations empowers property holders to utilize their land or rooftops for renewable energy generation, earning steady payments. Such initiatives bolster the nation’s renewable energy objectives by boosting clean energy output, fostering green employment opportunities, and curbing greenhouse gas emissions.
โWeโre proud to advance decarbonization together with the team at Solar Site Developers, who have been committed partners in the preliminary stages of bringing these projects to life,โ said Dan Gulick, Senior Vice President, Community Solar, Aspen Power. โBuilding on Aspen Powerโs portfolios in the Keystone state as well as our home state of New York is a key element of achieving our goal of gigawatt-scale in the coming years,โ he added.
