In a significant development for Maharashtra’s renewable energy landscape, Juniper Green Energy recently inaugurated the Jalkot Solar Power Project. This milestone adds 105 MW of solar power to the region’s energy grid, marking a pivotal step forward in India’s push towards sustainable energy solutions. Remarkably, the project was completed and commenced operations nearly nine months ahead of its planned commercial operation date (COD), setting a new standard for efficiency in project execution within the renewable sector.
The Jalkot Solar Power Project has entered into a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Co. Ltd (MSEDCL), ensuring a long-term commitment to environmental sustainability and economic development. This initiative is expected to generate around 200 million units (MUs) of electricity annually, significantly contributing to the reduction of Maharashtra’s carbon footprint by an estimated 178,569 tonnes of CO2 every year. The project’s output will also be sufficient to supply electricity to approximately 38,085 households, aiding the state’s transition to cleaner energy sources.
At the helm of Juniper Green Energy, CEO Naresh Mansukhani lauded the project team for their outstanding contribution, highlighting the early completion as a testament to their dedication and commitment to sustainability. Mansukhani expressed pride in the company’s ongoing progress in the renewable energy sector, attributing the success to the team’s innovative spirit and relentless pursuit of excellence in environmental stewardship.
