GreenYellow, the French company’s Colombian subsidiary, has announced the successful connection of the 14.3 MWp Alejandría solar park to Colombia’s National Interconnected System (SIN). Situated in Planeta Rica, Córdoba department, this marks the company’s second solar venture in the town.
Comprising approximately 22 thousand solar modules mounted on solar trackers across 21 hectares, the Alejandría solar park boasts an annual generation capacity of 21 GWh. According to a company statement, this project has provided employment opportunities for over 350 individuals, including locals, contractors, and women, who have contributed to its development despite the challenging climatic conditions of the region.
Felipe Camargo, the Executive Director of GreenYellow Colombia, emphasized the significance of this project, portraying it as a milestone for the company. Camargo highlighted the suitability of Planeta Rica and Córdoba department for solar projects, citing ample land availability and high solar radiation. Notably, this solar park is GreenYellow’s second in the municipality, following the GreenYellow Solar Aurora plant.
Camargo further underscored the company’s commitment to local workforce development, noting the hiring of local labor for park development as a means of promoting technological training and expanding employment opportunities in the area. He also highlighted the coexistence of the solar park with forestry and environmental preservation efforts as a notable aspect of the project.
The successful connection of the Alejandría solar park by GreenYellow’s Colombian subsidiary signifies a significant advancement in Colombia’s renewable energy landscape. This project not only contributes to the country’s renewable energy capacity but also fosters local economic development and environmental stewardship in the region of Planeta Rica, Córdoba.
