President Joko โ€œJokowiโ€ Widodo has called on all stakeholders to prioritize green energy development in Indonesia. This statement was made during the groundbreaking ceremony of the PLN Hub in Nusantara Capital, located in North Penajam Paser regency, East Kalimantan province.

โ€œWe want to transform the economy because the global economy changes without a clear direction or certainty. Everything changes and we must anticipate that,โ€ President Jokowi stated.

He highlighted the importance of developing and leveraging green energy, noting that investors are increasingly inquiring about green energy availability when considering investments in Indonesia.

โ€œWe have great potential in green energy. For hydropower alone, we have 4,400 rivers. For instance, Kayon River can generate 11,000-13,000 megawatts and Mamberamo River can produce 23,000 megawatts. Those are the big rivers. We can utilize the medium and small ones for so many things,โ€ the President said.

President Jokowi emphasized that the shift towards green energy is essential, as investors are no longer interested in fossil fuels and are focusing on renewable sources such as geothermal, hydropower, and wind power.

โ€œAll of them asked about green energy availability. No one asked about using coal-fired power plants. The questions are always about geothermal, hydropower, or wind power, and our country has those strengths. We must leverage them. I really appreciate the construction of PLN Hub that will gather all stakeholders and partners relevant to [state-owned electricity company] PT PLN,โ€ he said.

During the ceremony, the President reiterated that Nusantara Capital will be powered entirely by green energy. He urged stakeholders to optimize the use of green energy from various sources.

โ€œWe hope we will all change our mindset as Nusantara Capital must use 100 percent green energy, as Iโ€™ve stated before. It can be from solar panels that PT PLN currently works on, hydropower from perhaps Mahakam [River], wind, or other sources,โ€ he remarked.

President Jokowiโ€™s call to action underscores Indonesiaโ€™s commitment to a sustainable and environmentally-friendly energy future, aligning with global trends and investor expectations.
