Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) recently hosted a distinguished delegation from the Dominican Republic, led by Rafael Orlando Gรณmez Del Giudice, Vice Minister of Energy. The visit was aimed at familiarizing the Dominican Republic with DEWA’s pivotal sustainability initiatives and its groundbreaking ventures in clean and renewable energy. Moreover, it sought to glean insights from DEWA’s rich reservoir of experiences and practices as a leading utility company. Renowned for its exceptional performance, DEWA has emerged as a global benchmark across various key performance indicators (KPIs) within its spheres of operation. A recent study conducted by a specialized international consultant underscored DEWA’s unparalleled standards, with the organization securing top positions in over 10 KPIs globally.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, expressed the organization’s unwavering commitment to sharing its successful experiences and expertise with both public and private entities worldwide. Al Tayer emphasized that such collaborations are pivotal in fostering a greener and more sustainable future for all, aligning with the UAE Net Zero Strategy 2050 and Dubai’s ambitious clean energy objectives.

During their visit, the delegation was given an extensive tour of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, a monumental endeavor that stands as the largest single-site solar park globally under the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model. With a projected capacity exceeding 5,000MW by 2030, the solar park embodies DEWA’s relentless pursuit of clean energy solutions. The delegation also had the opportunity to explore DEWA’s groundbreaking Green Hydrogen Project, a pioneering initiative in the Middle East and North Africa region aimed at producing hydrogen using solar power.

The delegation’s itinerary also included a visit to DEWA’s Innovation Centre, where they were introduced to an array of interactive exhibits showcasing advancements in renewable energy. Dr. Aaesha Alnuaimi, Director of the Innovation Centre, accompanied the delegation on this enlightening tour, highlighting DEWA’s commitment to fostering innovation in the realm of clean and renewable energy.

Impressed by DEWA’s monumental projects and the Innovation Centre’s role as a global innovation hub, the delegation commended DEWA for its pioneering efforts in advancing clean and renewable energy solutions.
