Egypt’s Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Mahmoud Essmat, held a crucial meeting on Sunday with Dimitrios Copelouzos, Chairman of the Greek Copelouzos Group, to discuss the ongoing progress of the electricity interconnection project between Egypt and Greece, which will eventually connect to Europe.
During the meeting, the discussion focused on the future of renewable energy, optimizing returns, and leveraging Egypt’s natural resources in alignment with the country’s strategy. Essmat emphasized the significant role of the electricity interconnection project in promoting sustainable development and transforming Egypt into a regional hub for energy exchange.
“We are committed to completing the necessary procedures for this project, which serves as a vital link between Egypt and Europe,” stated Minister Essmat. He further highlighted the state’s strategy to enhance the contribution of renewable energy in the national electricity mix and the ministry’s focus on diversifying energy production resources.
