MNRE Establishes Task Force To Advance Geothermal Energy In India

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has established a Task Force dedicated to advancing geothermal energy in India. This initiative aims to explore and develop the potential of geothermal resources as a sustainable energy solution for the country. Dr. A.K. Tripathi, an Advisor at MNRE, will lead the Task Force, which is tasked with reviewing the draft of the “Indian Geothermal Energy Development Framework.”

The Task Force will evaluate the global status of geothermal technologies and their applications to understand current best practices and advancements. This review will help shape strategic recommendations for harnessing geothermal energy in India effectively. The focus will be on identifying viable technologies and developing a comprehensive framework to support the growth of the geothermal sector.
