Gensol Engineering Limited , a prominent player in the renewable energy sector, has emerged as the lowest bidder for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for India’s first Bio-Hydrogen project. The project will be executed in partnership with Matrix Gas & Renewables Ltd., a rapidly growing green hydrogen infrastructure developer and natural gas aggregator.
The Gensol-Matrix consortium secured the contract from one of India’s leading power generation companies. The project, valued at INR 164 Crore, aims to convert 25 tons of bio-waste into 1 ton of hydrogen per day. Scheduled for completion within 18 months, the initiative aligns with India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission, which focuses on biomass-to-green hydrogen generation.
In collaboration with Westinghouse, USA, a global leader with patented technology in bio-waste processing, Gensol and Matrix will establish a 25 Tons per Day (TPD) bio-waste processing facility. The project will employ the Pre-Gasification Plasma Induced Radiant Energy-Based Gasification System (GH2-PREGS) technology to produce 1 TPD of green hydrogen.
Anmol Singh Jaggi, Chairman and Managing Director of Gensol Engineering Ltd., expressed his excitement about the project, stating, “This milestone project underscores our commitment to innovation within the renewable energy sector. By converting bio-waste into hydrogen, we are tackling critical environmental challenges and contributing significantly to India’s energy transition.”
Chirag Kotecha, Whole-Time Director of Matrix Gas & Renewables Ltd., highlighted the project’s importance, noting, “We are proud to lead India’s energy transition with this pioneering Biomass to Green Hydrogen initiative. This project marks a significant step forward in creating a sustainable GH2 ecosystem in the country.”
Both Gensol and Matrix are promoted by common promoters and will continue their collaboration in the Green Hydrogen sector, exploring opportunities in Green Steel and Green Ammonia, leveraging their respective expertise.
