In a significant move towards advancing green energy, Jordanโs Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Dr. Saleh Kharabsheh, and Dr. Mohammad Abu Atieh, Regional Director of CTGI Renewable Energy Partners, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) today in Amman. The agreement aims to prepare feasibility studies for the development of green hydrogen projects in Jordan.
The MoU outlines a collaborative framework to facilitate the initial feasibility studies needed for a new green hydrogen project, with the goal of producing 200,000 tons of green ammonia annually. Dr. Kharabsheh emphasized that upon completion of these preliminary studies, the Ministry will work closely with CTGI to finalize the project investment agreement.
โThis agreement marks the 13th partnership in the field of green hydrogen and ammonia production,โ Dr. Kharabsheh said. โIt represents a key step towards our vision of transforming Jordan into a leading regional and global hub for hydrogen production and export. Our commitment is to expand investment frameworks and support the growth of this promising sector.โ
Dr. Kharabsheh also highlighted the alignment of the MoU with Jordanโs Economic Modernization Vision (2023-2033), which prioritizes investments in clean energy and green hydrogen projects. He noted that Jordan’s abundant renewable energy resources and strategic location in the Middle East and Africa provide a solid foundation for these initiatives.
Dr. Abu Atieh expressed gratitude for Jordanโs support and emphasized the company’s commitment to leveraging its capabilities to develop green energy projects in the country. The signing ceremony was attended by key officials from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, including the Director of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Directorate, as well as a specialized delegation from CTGI.
