Tata Power Renewable Energy has announced the acquisition of a Letter of Award (LoA) to develop a 200-MW hybrid renewable energy project in Maharashtra, India, for a local government-owned power distributor. The announcement was made on Friday by the subsidiary of Tata Power Co Ltd.

The project was awarded by the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) through a competitive bidding process. The original order is for a 200-MW hybrid renewable energy project, with a greenshoe option that allows for an additional contracted capacity of 200 MW.

This hybrid scheme is designed to assist MSEDCL in fulfilling the state’s Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO). Following the awarding of the project, MSEDCL is expected to sign a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Tata Power Renewable Energy to purchase the output from the wind-solar park.

The installation of the capacity is projected to be completed within two years from the date the PPA is signed.

With this latest award, Tata Power Renewable Energy has expanded its total portfolio to 10.5 GW, of which 5.7 GW consists of projects currently under implementation, reinforcing the company’s commitment to renewable energy development in India
