PXIL successfully held its second REC trading session for October 2024, in compliance with the CERC’s directive in Order of Petition 379-MP-2024. This marked the 14th session for FY 2024-25 and the 35th auction session under the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) Regulations for Renewable Energy Certificates, which took effect on December 5, 2022. During this session, a total of 199,000 RECs were transacted, following the availability of over 4.6 million RECs in the market prior to the auction.
The trading occurred under the guidance of the Honโble Delhi High Court, which, in its Daily Order dated May 11, 2023, lifted previous restrictions on the sale of RECs issued before October 31, 2022. Consequently, all RECs held by selling entities were eligible for trading in this session.
The trading sessions included:
) Transactions for non-Solar RECs issued before April 1, 2017, with a floor price of โน1,500/MWh, as specified by CERC in its Order for Petition no 2/SM/2017 dated March 30, 2017.
b) Transactions involving various renewable technologies, including Solar, Wind, Hydro, Small Hydro, Biomass, and other renewable sources.
