Reliance Power Limited and its subsidiary, Reliance NU BESS Limited, were previously debarred from participating in tenders issued by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for three years. This decision followed an investigation that found the companies had submitted a fake bank guarantee as part of their bid for SECIโs 1000 MW/2000 MWh Standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. The tender required an Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) supported by a valid bank guarantee, but the document provided by Reliance NU BESS Limited was found to be not genuine.
SECI issued a public notice on November 6, 2024, announcing the debarment of both companies. However, after legal proceedings, SECI has now withdrawn the debarment notice against Reliance Power Limited with immediate effect. This decision was announced through a modified public notice, which clarifies that the withdrawal applies only to Reliance Power Limited.
SECI emphasized that this withdrawal is without prejudice to its right to take further action if necessary, following the law. The previous debarment notice remains modified to the extent of lifting restrictions on Reliance Power Limited alone. The legal status of Reliance NU BESS Limited’s debarment was not addressed in this notice.
