Gentari, a clean energy solutions provider, has entered into a landmark Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with its subsidiary, Gentari Renewables India Castor One Private Limited, and AM Green Ammonia India Private Limited (AMG Ammonia). The agreement outlines Gentariโs commitment to supplying 650 MW of round-the-clock, carbon-free energy to power AMG Ammoniaโs green ammonia facilities in India.
As part of the deal, Gentari will develop around 2400 MWp of renewable energy capacity, incorporating both solar and wind power sources. Additionally, Gentari will integrate 350 MW / 2100 MWh of energy storage systems to deliver firm and dispatchable green power to AMG Ammoniaโs facilities. This ambitious project will be implemented in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
This agreement is significant due to its ability to meet the demanding energy requirements of a green ammonia plant throughout the year, demonstrating a potential model for future carbon-free energy contracts. Gentariโs approach aligns with the Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin (RNFBO) framework, enabling AMG Ammonia to expand its reach to European markets in addition to India.
In line with its vision, Gentari is also enhancing supply chains to connect green ammonia molecules to global demand centers and exploring innovative solutions in shipping and logistics for efficient delivery to international markets.
AMG Ammonia is developing one of the worldโs largest green ammonia platforms, targeting a production capacity of 5 million tons per year by 2030. This production is expected to contribute significantly to Indiaโs green hydrogen targets under the National Green Hydrogen Mission, representing one-fifth of the countryโs target. AMG Ammoniaโs first green ammonia project, located in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, India, recently achieved its Final Investment Decision (FID).
Navjit Gill, Country Head for India at Gentari, expressed his excitement about the collaboration, saying, โWe are elated to embark on this collaboration with AMG Ammonia, as it holds tremendous potential for accelerating the development of renewable assets in India. This project will be unique, integrating energy storage to supply firm and dispatchable green energy to AMG Ammoniaโs facilities.โ
Mahesh Kolli, Founder of Greenko Group & AM Green, emphasized the importance of this partnership, stating, โWe are committed to contributing to Indiaโs ambition of emerging as a green energy exporter. This agreement is just the first of many, and with Gentari, we have found a partner who shares our vision and capabilities.โ
