Rajasthan Sets Ambitious Target Of 125 GW Renewable Energy By 2030, Says Union Minister Pralhad Joshi

Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Shri Pralhad Joshi, praised Rajasthan for its significant role in Indiaโ€™s renewable energy growth during his address at the โ€˜Rising Rajasthan: Transition towards a Sustainable Energy Economyโ€™ Summit held in Jaipur. He emphasized that Rajasthan is leading Indiaโ€™s renewable energy revolution with bold targets, progressive policies, and recent investments.

Shri Joshi highlighted the stateโ€™s commitment to clean energy, pointing out Rajasthanโ€™s impressive renewable energy capacity of 30.31 GW, with 24.55 GW coming from solar power, making it the national leader in this sector. He lauded the launch of Rajasthanโ€™s Integrated Clean Energy Policy 2024, which aims to achieve 125 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, significantly contributing to the national goal of 500 GW of renewable energy by the same year, as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Minister also praised the Rajasthan Investment Promotion Scheme 2024, which offers substantial incentives to investors in renewable energy, further encouraging the stateโ€™s clean energy development. He noted that these efforts are crucial in creating a robust ecosystem for renewable energy investments in Rajasthan.

Shri Joshi also discussed the growth of Indiaโ€™s renewable energy sector under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, urging the state to accelerate the implementation of key initiatives like the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. This initiative is aimed at providing free electricity to promote solar energy adoption across the country. Additionally, the Minister urged for the rapid implementation of Rajasthanโ€™s Green Hydrogen Policy to position the state as a leader in emerging green technologies.

The Union Minister spoke about the potential of Rajasthan to become a global hub for renewable energy innovation, highlighting breakthroughs in solar, wind, and hydrogen technologies, as well as new financing mechanisms and investment opportunities discussed at the summit.

Shri Joshi also announced the approval of a 2,000 MW Solar Park project by the Rajasthan Solar Development Corporation, which will receive 30% Central Financial Assistance. This initiative marks a significant step forward in Rajasthanโ€™s renewable energy journey.

The summit was attended by Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma, Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Shri Heera Lal Nagar, Minister for Energy in Rajasthan, and other prominent dignitaries. The event showcased Rajasthanโ€™s role as a key player in Indiaโ€™s renewable energy transition.
