NTPC recently concluded an auction for 1,200 MW of wind-solar PV hybrid power projects connected to the interstate transmission system. The auction achieved a discovered tariff range of ₹3.38 to ₹3.44 per kWh, setting a benchmark for competitive pricing in India’s renewable energy sector. All 1,200 MW of tendered capacity were awarded, with five companies emerging as winners.
JSP Green, part of Jindal Renewables, secured 350 MW at the lowest tariff of ₹3.38 per kWh, showcasing its ability to deliver competitive projects. Adani Green Energy, which bid for 600 MW, emerged as the largest winner by capacity, securing 350 MW at ₹3.44 per kWh. Green Prairie Energy IV, part of EverGreen Power, won 200 MW with a tariff of ₹3.44 per kWh. Two other companies, Adyant Enersol from Datta Infra and AMPIN Energy, each secured 150 MW at ₹3.44 per kWh. Four companies quoted the highest tariff of ₹3.44 per kWh, accounting for a total awarded capacity of 850 MW.

The results demonstrate a narrow tariff range, reflecting strong competition in the market. The bids ranged between ₹3.38 and ₹3.44 per kWh, driven by advances in technology and improved project execution efficiencies. Adani Green Energy, despite bidding for a higher capacity, received only 350 MW, highlighting the competitive nature of the auction.
The tender floated in August 2024, required bidders to offer a minimum of 50 MW and capped the maximum capacity at 600 MW. This structure attracted significant participation, emphasizing the growing interest and competition in India’s renewable energy landscape. The projects awarded through this auction will contribute to meeting the country’s expanding clean energy demands.
