Yellow Door Energy, a leading sustainable energy partner in the Middle East and Africa, has unveiled its 2024 achievements, showcasing significant progress in renewable energy projects and sustainability initiatives.
The company expanded its project portfolio by 32.7 MW during the year, including acquiring five operational solar projects in Oman. Key Reports and Recognition
As part of its commitment to sustainability, Yellow Door Energy published its second sustainability report, โFrom Promise to Realization: Our Journey to Sustainable Energy,โ outlining progress and initiatives. The company also released its second carbon footprint report, reaffirming its efforts to decarbonize operations.
In recognition of its 2024 achievements, the company received six prestigious awards, including the Excellence in Solar Energy Project Management Award from the SolarQuarter Network and the Environmental Excellence โ Country Award for Corporate Social Responsibility in Bahrain.
Educational and Community Impact
Yellow Door Energy also expanded its thought leadership through seven educational workshops across the UAE, Bahrain, Jordan, and South Africa. Notable initiatives included:
- The โLightโ Project in Jordan: Co-funded by Actis Acts, the project trained 20 young Jordanians in solar energy system design and maintenance. A solar system was also installed at a community center in Mafraq at no cost.
- INJAZ Bahrain Solar Power Plant Tour: Twenty high school students toured the companyโs solar plant at City Centre Bahrain to learn about renewable energy operations.
Scaling Solar Capacity
The companyโs solar projects, with a total capacity exceeding 350 MW, are in various operational stages. Developed through solar leases and power purchase agreements, these projects enable businesses to transition to solar energy without upfront costs, significantly reducing electricity expenses.
In 2024, Yellow Door Energy installed 61,500 solar panels across rooftops, grounds, and parking lots, requiring over 550,000 man-hours for construction. The company maintained a flawless safety record, underscoring its dedication to quality and environmental standards.
Driving Clean Energy Goals
The companyโs operational projects have generated a cumulative 842,000 MWh of clean electricity, offsetting 328,000 metric tons of carbon emissions. These achievements align with the ambitious clean energy and net-zero strategies of the countries where Yellow Door Energy operates.
