Dubai-based developer H2 Global Energy announced on Monday that it has completed initial studies for a green hydrogen and ammonia project in Morocco.

The project, planned for Moroccoโ€™s southern region, aims to produce 1 million tonnes of green ammonia annually. By leveraging Morocco’s abundant solar and wind resources, the plant will produce green hydrogen, which will then be converted into green ammonia. This initiative is expected to support decarbonisation efforts in sectors such as agriculture, transportation, and energy storage.

H2 Global Energy has already taken further steps to secure project financing and finalize the engineering design, according to the companyโ€™s announcement.

Recently, a team from H2 Global Energy met with government officials in Rabat to discuss the regulatory framework, investment opportunities, and collaboration necessary to advance the project.

Waleed AlHallaj, Chief Commercial Officer of H2 Global Energy, expressed enthusiasm about the projectโ€™s potential, stating, โ€œWe are excited about the potential of this project to support Moroccoโ€™s transition to a green economy and enhance its position in the global energy market.โ€
