Aspen Power, a top distributed generation platform focused on clean energy, has acquired a 23 MWdc community solar portfolio from Greenwood Sustainability Infrastructure (GSI). These projects, located in the NYSEG and National Grid utility areas, will improve access to renewable energy in the region. As part of New Yorkโs Value of Distributed Energy Resources (VDER) program, these projects will provide subscribers with discounts on utility rates while adding clean energy to the grid.
Jorge Vargas, Chief Executive Officer, Aspen Power, said โThis marks an important milestone in Aspen Powerโs partnership with GSI as we continue to expand our presence in New Yorkโs renewable energy market. By closing on these initial sites, we are advancing our mission to support New Yorkโs clean energy goals and provide tangible benefits to the communities we serve.โ
Mazen Turk, CEO, Greenwood Sustainability Infrastructure, stated โThis transaction exemplifies the value of strategic collaboration in advancing renewable energy projects while recognizing GSIโs development acumen within the solar industry. By working with Aspen Power, weโre ensuring that these projects will deliver meaningful benefits to New York communities while unlocking the value of our assets in alignment with GSIโs overall market strategy.โ
These projects use advanced Single-Axis Tracking (SAT) systems to boost energy production by following the sunโs movement throughout the day. This technology highlights Aspen Powerโs dedication to making renewable energy more efficient and impactful. By working together, GSI gains access to Aspen Powerโs knowledge and resources in expanding and managing community solar projects, helping ensure their smooth launch and long-term success.
