Malaysia and Turkiye have taken a significant step towards enhancing energy supply security and sustainability by exploring cooperation opportunities in the energy sector. The collaboration aims to stimulate economic growth through green investments, according to the Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation.
In a statement today, the ministry announced that an exchange of letters of intent took place yesterday, coinciding with the official visit of Turkiye’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to Malaysia.
The partnership will focus on key areas such as electricity market operations, grid system development, expansion of renewable energy sources, exploration of nuclear energy potential, and investment and financing mechanisms within the energy sector.
“This strategic collaboration aligns with Malaysia’s commitment to achieving a low-carbon and sustainable future, as outlined in the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR),” the ministry stated.
Malaysia seeks to accelerate its energy transition agenda by leveraging Turkiye’s expertise in the sector. The collaboration will be facilitated through seminars, forums, technical discussions, working visits, exchange of expertise, and joint implementation of electricity-related projects.
The ministry highlighted that this initiative is expected to drive innovation, strengthen energy infrastructure, and attract green investments, reinforcing Malaysia’s commitment to clean energy and sustainability.
