Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI), a Navratna CPSU under the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Madhya Pradesh to set up a 200 MW solar project in Dhar and a 1,000 MWh battery storage project in the state. The agreement was signed during the Global Investors Summit 2025, which is being held in Bhopal from February 24 to 25.
The Global Investors Summit 2025 was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India in the presence of the Governor of Madhya Pradesh, Mangubhai Chhaganbhai Patel, and the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav. The MoU was signed by Sivakumar V Vepakomma, Director (Power Systems) SECI, and Manu Srivastava, Additional Chief Secretary (NRE), in the presence of the Minister of New & Renewable Energy of Madhya Pradesh, Rakesh Shukla, and SECI Chairman and Managing Director, R P Gupta.
The 200 MW solar project is part of a larger 500 MW agreement signed in 2023 between SECI and MP Power Management Company Limited for 25 years, under which SECI will supply electricity to the state. SECI has also proposed a phase-wise investment of โน2,500 crore for expanding and developing renewable energy projects in Madhya Pradesh.
The summit brought together key stakeholders from the Government of India, along with representatives from various states and countries, to explore investment opportunities and strengthen partnerships in the renewable energy sector.
