Seoul hosted the Korea-Australia Green Economy Partnership Arrangement (EPA) Business Forum today, marking a key step in advancing bilateral cooperation in climate, energy, and supply chain resilience. Organized by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) of the Republic of Korea, the Forum follows the Green EPA agreement signed between the two nations in December 2024.
The event aimed to foster concrete business opportunities in clean hydrogen, carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS), and critical minerals. Industry leaders from both countries gathered to assess progress in clean energy collaboration and explore strategies for strengthening the Asia-Pacific clean hydrogen supply chain. Discussions also covered joint participation in global CCUS projects through cross-border carbon dioxide transport and storage initiatives under the Green EPA, as well as efforts to diversify critical mineral supply chains and expand investments in clean energy technologies.
Koreaโs Minister for Trade, Inkyo Cheong, emphasized the potential synergy between Koreaโs clean energy technology and Australiaโs rich natural resources, anticipating meaningful advancements in the global clean energy sector. Australian Ambassador to Korea, Jeff Robinson, highlighted the Green EPAโs role in accelerating energy transitions, fortifying supply chains, and driving economic growth.
On the sidelines of the Forum, MOTIE reaffirmed its commitment to supporting domestic companies in expanding their participation in international clean energy projects and strengthening global partnerships in the sector.
