Esco NEXT, a joint initiative between SolarBK and Banpu NEXT, has announced plans to install at least 390 megawatts (MW) of rooftop solar power in the coming years. The initiative marks the first phase of a new agreement aimed at expanding renewable energy adoption in Vietnam.

Esco NEXT builds upon the successful collaboration between SolarBK and Banpu NEXT, which began in 2022. The companies have maintained a strong partnership despite challenges in the domestic solar power market and the broader economic pressures following the pandemic.

James Rama Phataminviphas, Group Senior Vice President of Banpu NEXT Co., Ltd., highlighted the significance of the partnership in advancing the companyโ€™s renewable energy strategy. โ€œThis partnership is a key milestone in our goal to accelerate growth in our solar rooftop portfolio. We see Vietnamโ€™s potential as a market for renewable energy solutions and believe that this deal can strengthen our ecosystem while contributing to the countryโ€™s net-zero goals,โ€ he stated.

This partnership will enable us to offer a multitude of green energy solutions to our business clients and those in the community,โ€ he said.

Banpu NEXT has an extensive renewable energy portfolio, with previous investments in solar farms across China, Japan, Vietnam, Australia, and the United States, as well as wind farms in Vietnam. The expansion of rooftop solar through Esco NEXT is expected to further bolster Vietnamโ€™s transition to clean energy and align with the countryโ€™s net-zero commitments.
