Berde Renewables Inc., a distributed renewable energy firm backed by I Squared Capital, has announced a significant expansion of its clean energy partnership with cement giant Holcim Philippines. The move builds upon the success of previous rooftop solar projects and aims to enhance renewable energy deployment across Holcimโ€™s industrial operations.

The expanded agreement will see Berde Renewables designing, constructing, and managing additional solar installations at Holcimโ€™s facilities in Davao City and Lugait, Misamis Oriental. The new projects will raise the combined installed solar capacity to 12.79 megawatt-peak (MWp), expected to generate around 21,263 megawatt-hours of clean electricity annually. This translates to a projected carbon emissions reduction of 14,000 metric tons per year, aligning with Holcimโ€™s goal to cut Scope 2 emissions by 65% by 2030.

Patrick Zhu, CEO of Berde Renewables, expressed pride in being re-selected through a competitive bidding process. โ€œBeing chosen again speaks volumes about the trust Holcim places in our expertise,โ€ said Zhu. โ€œWe are honored to scale up this partnership and contribute further to the Philippinesโ€™ transition to renewable energy.โ€
