The Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) has announced its plan to select a solar power developer for setting up a ground-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) pilot project in Pang, Leh. This selection process will follow the RESCO mode and be conducted through a tariff-based competitive bidding process. SECI will soon release the official tender for this initiative.
The scope of the work includes the development of a 500-kilowatt cumulative capacity ground-mounted solar PV pilot project. The developer will be selected based on the lowest tariff offered during the competitive bidding. The project aims to support clean energy generation in the high-altitude region of Pang, which lies in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
SECIโs move to set up the project in Leh reflects the governmentโs push to promote renewable energy even in remote and challenging terrains. The RESCO (Renewable Energy Service Company) model allows private developers to install and operate the project, while the generated power is sold to consumers under a long-term power purchase agreement. With the release of the tender expected shortly, SECI continues to play a key role in expanding solar energy capacity across diverse regions of India.
