energyRe, a U.S.-based developer of large-scale renewable energy infrastructure, has signed a landmark renewable energy agreement with Google to advance the deployment of clean energy in South Carolina. Under the agreement, Google will invest in and purchase Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) from a portfolio of over 600 megawatts (MW) of new solar and solar-plus-storage projects being developed by energyRe in the state. This deal marks the second collaboration between the two companies, and together, their partnerships will bring more than 1 gigawatt (GWac) of new clean energy capacity to the grid.

Amanda Peterson Corio, Head of Data Center Energy, Google, stated, “Strengthening the grid by deploying more reliable and clean energy is crucial for supporting the digital infrastructure that businesses and individuals depend on. Our collaboration with energyRe will help power our data centers and the broader economic growth of South Carolina.”

Miguel Prado, CEO of energyRe, mentioned, “This agreement is a milestone in energyRe’s mission to develop innovative and impactful clean energy solutions for the future. We’re honored to partner with Google to help advance their ambitious sustainability and decarbonization objectives while delivering dependable, locally sourced clean energy to meet growing energy demands.”

The agreement supports the growing energy needs of the region through locally sourced renewable power, while also contributing to Googleโ€™s ambitious goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions across its operations and value chain by 2030. energyReโ€™s national project pipeline spans utility-scale solar, high-voltage transmission lines, onshore and offshore wind, distributed generation, and energy storage assets. Through these initiatives, energyRe is helping to improve grid reliability, lower energy costs for consumers, and address the increasing demand for electricity across the United States.
