Saudi Arabia and China Strengthen Climate Cooperation Ahead of COP30

Saudi Arabiaโ€™s Minister of Energy, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, held a high-level meeting in Riyadh today with Chinaโ€™s Special Envoy for Climate Change, Liu Zhenmin, to deepen bilateral collaboration on climate action. The discussions were also attended by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Climate Envoy Adel Al-Jubeir.

The dialogue centered on enhancing joint efforts between the Kingdom and China to address global climate challenges and promote sustainable development through coordinated regional and international policy initiatives. Both sides emphasized the value of robust cooperation in advancing shared environmental goals.

A key focus of the talks was alignment ahead of the COP30 climate summit, with both delegations underscoring the necessity of constructive dialogue and collective action to ensure meaningful outcomes at the global conference.

The meeting also featured a review of national and regional climate strategies. Saudi Arabiaโ€™s flagship programsโ€”the Saudi Green Initiative and the Middle East Green Initiativeโ€”were discussed alongside Chinaโ€™s climate efforts. The parties expressed a shared commitment to expanding collaboration in clean energy, low-emission technologies, and climate innovation.
