Sembcorp Industries (Sembcorp), through its wholly owned renewables subsidiary Sembcorp Green Infra Private Limited (SGIPL), has secured a Letter of Award from SJVN Limited for a 150MW solar power project integrated with a 300MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).

This build-own-operate project is part of SJVNโ€™s 1.2GW Inter State Transmission System (ISTS)-connected solar tender, which includes a total of 600MW/2.4GWh of BESS capacity. The project aims to enhance grid stability and support peak power demands, supplying solar energy alongside four hours of daily battery-dispatched electricity.

Subject to the signing of a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with SJVN, the project is slated for commercial operation within 24 months of the PPA execution. It will be funded through a mix of internal resources and debt.

The award marks Sembcorpโ€™s second solar-plus-storage hybrid project in India, bringing its gross renewable energy capacity in the country to 6.3GW. On a global scale, Sembcorpโ€™s total renewables portfolio now stands at 17.7GW, including acquisitions pending completion.
