Sembcorp Industries (Sembcorp), through its wholly owned renewables subsidiary Sembcorp Green Infra Private Limited (SGIPL), has secured a Letter of Award from SJVN Limited for a 150MW solar power project integrated with a 300MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).
This build-own-operate project is part of SJVN’s 1.2GW Inter State Transmission System (ISTS)-connected solar tender, which includes a total of 600MW/2.4GWh of BESS capacity. The project aims to enhance grid stability and support peak power demands, supplying solar energy alongside four hours of daily battery-dispatched electricity.
Subject to the signing of a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with SJVN, the project is slated for commercial operation within 24 months of the PPA execution. It will be funded through a mix of internal resources and debt.
The award marks Sembcorp’s second solar-plus-storage hybrid project in India, bringing its gross renewable energy capacity in the country to 6.3GW. On a global scale, Sembcorp’s total renewables portfolio now stands at 17.7GW, including acquisitions pending completion.
The project is not expected to have any material impact on Sembcorp’s earnings per share or net tangible assets per share for the financial year ending December 31, 2025.
