HHP Five Private Limited, a subsidiary of Hygenco Green Energies Pvt Ltd, marked a significant milestone with the groundbreaking ceremony of its Green Ammonia Plant in Gopalpur, Odisha. The event was graced by Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha, along with senior government officials and industry leaders.
This landmark project positions Odisha as a growing hub for clean energy-driven industrial development, reinforcing India’s commitment to a sustainable, low-carbon future. Amit Bansal, Co-founder and CEO, Hygenco Green Energies, said, “Building on our pioneering success in Green Hydrogen, Hygenco is now setting new benchmarks in India’s Green Ammonia landscape. With this project, we are not only advancing the energy self-sufficiency but also unlocking export opportunities that will position India as a global leader in Green Ammonia. Our focus remains on delivering cost-competitive, world-class solutions that will help industries decarbonize and support India’s vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.”
The plant will be developed in three phases, targeting a total production capacity of 1.1 million tonnes per annum (MTPA):
- Phase 1 (2028): 220 KTPA (Kilo Tonnes Per Annum)
- Phase 2 (2029): Additional 220 KTPA
- Phase 3 (2030+): Reaching full capacity of 730 KTPA
The Gopalpur plant follows Hygenco’s successful commissioning of India’s first commercial megawatt-scale Green Hydrogen plant last year—a key step toward decarbonising the steel sector and promoting green industrial ecosystems.
This initiative marks a pivotal chapter in India’s transition to clean energy and strengthens Gopalpur’s strategic importance in the global green hydrogen and ammonia value chain.
