SEG Solar, a U.S.-based photovoltaic (PV) module manufacturer, has successfully completed its first transaction involving the sale of Section 45X Advanced Manufacturing Production Tax Credits, totaling up to $50 million in value. The deal was finalized and the initial funding was received on June 6, 2025. The credits are tied to SEG Solar’s 2025 solar module production at its advanced manufacturing facility in Houston, Texas. As part of the agreement, a U.S. public company will purchase the credits from SEG at a rate of $0.94 for every $1.00 of credit value. Payments will be made in four installments, each linked to actual module production and sales output.
Jim Wood, CEO of SEG Solar, mentioned, “We are thrilled to have finalized our first Section 45X tax credit sale, marking a major financial milestone for our company. This transaction provides us with significant cash flow, strengthens our financial position and enables us to further accelerate our investment in U.S. manufacturing. By expanding our production capacity and deepening our domestic partnerships, we are not only advancing clean energy innovation but also contributing meaningfully to job creation and long-term economic growth.”
This transaction is a significant step in SEG’s ongoing strategy to grow its domestic manufacturing presence and support a stronger, more resilient U.S. solar supply chain. It also reflects growing confidence in both SEG’s production capabilities and the Section 45X tax credit transfer process, particularly when applied to U.S.-made clean energy technologies. SEG’s Houston facility represents a total investment of over $60 million and features two fully automated production lines, giving it an annual output capacity of 2 gigawatts. This scale of production allows SEG to supply developers and project owners with reliable, high-quality solar modules made with a high level of domestic content, reinforcing its role in advancing clean energy infrastructure across the United States.
