South Australian solar manufacturer Tindo Solar has signed a landmark five-year export agreement with Vietnam, marking the companyโ€™s largest international deal to date. Valued at $8.4 million, the agreement will see Tindo supply 15 megawatts (MW) of premium solar panels to major energy projects across Vietnam.

The deal was finalized with Thanh Do Australia, a subsidiary of Thanh Do Construction Group, which operates in infrastructure, real estate, and clean energy sectors in Vietnam. The first shipment of Tindoโ€™s 430-watt rooftop solar panels is scheduled to depart from Adelaide in June.

โ€œThis five-year agreement is a vote of confidence in Tindoโ€™s employees and in Australian manufacturingโ€™s ability to succeed at the premium end of a very competitive market,โ€ said Tindo CEO Richard Petterson. โ€œWeโ€™ve identified that markets like Vietnam, much like Australia, are willing to invest in higher-quality solar solutions.โ€

The panels are manufactured at Tindoโ€™s facility in Mawson Lakes, South Australia, and come with a 25-year product warranty. They are also cyclone-rated, ensuring long-term durability and resilience under harsh weather conditions. Tindoโ€™s panels recently topped a CHOICE consumer survey of 15 solar panel brands available in Australia, with the Karra 410W module being the only unit to deliver tested output exactly matching its nameplate rating.

Petterson emphasized the environmental and performance benefits of high-quality solar products. โ€œStarting with quality gives you better power output and greater reliability over the years. That ensures more COโ‚‚ is offset over the product’s lifetime than is emitted during manufacturingโ€”an equation that the Vietnamese market understands well.โ€

The deal also reflects Tindoโ€™s broader ambitions to expand its manufacturing capacity as international demand for premium solar products grows. Tindo, which began operations in 2011, opened its current factory in 2021 with a renewed focus on engineering-led product development and research.

As Vietnam accelerates its transition to clean energy, the agreement with Tindo underscores the countryโ€™s growing appetite for technologically advanced and reliable solar infrastructure.
