Hindustan Power, an integrated power generation company led by Ratul Puri, has been awarded a 100 MW inter-state transmission system (ISTS)-connected solar power project, along with a 200 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), by SJVN Limitedโ€”a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise.

The actual installed capacity of the solar project will be significantly higher than 100 MW to ensure continuous power supply throughout the day while also charging the BESS for reliable peak-hour energy delivery. The project was secured through a tariff-based competitive bidding process, followed by an e-Reverse Auction (e-RA) held on the ETS portal. It is part of SJVNโ€™s larger initiative to develop 1200 MW of ISTS-connected solar power projects integrated with 600 MW/2400 MWh of Energy Storage Systems, to be set up across India.

The combined solar and storage system is designed to enhance grid reliability by addressing the challenges of intermittent solar power generation and aligning supply with real-time demand. With the ability to deliver clean power during peak demand periods for up to four hours, the project supports energy shifting and peak load management, improving the efficiency and stability of the grid.

Mr. Ratul Puri, Chairman of Hindustan Power, said in a statement, โ€œWe are happy to have won this project, which marks an important step in bringing more clean and reliable energy to the country. By combining solar power with energy storage, we can ensure effective management of peak power demand along with uninterrupted supply of power even when the sun isnโ€™t shining. I am confident that this will help in building a stronger, more dependable energy system for everyone.โ€

Under a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), the project will provide firm and dispatchable renewable energy, reinforcing Hindustan Powerโ€™s position in Indiaโ€™s clean energy landscape. Through this initiative, the company contributes to national goals of sustainability, energy security, and round-the-clock availability of green power.
