VSB Group has secured a contract for difference (CfD) for a 303 megawatt-peak (MWp) solar project as part of this yearโs renewable energy auction organized by the Polish Energy Regulatory Office (URE). This marks the largest solar project in VSBโs history and represents a major step forward in the companyโs renewable energy efforts in Poland. The project is fully permitted and will be located in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, northeast of Wrocลaw.
Spread across more than 260 hectares, the solar park is expected to begin construction in October 2025. Once operational, it will produce enough clean electricity each year to meet the energy needs of approximately 117,000 households. The project benefits from a 15-year CfD, which offers long-term price stability and supports the financial sustainability of the development. The connection to the power grid is anticipated in the second quarter of 2027.
Hubert Kowalski, Managing Director of VSB Poland, stated, โWith this project, we are setting a new benchmark for solar energy in Poland. In just a few years, it could evolve into one of Europeโs largest hybrid energy projects, combining photovoltaics, battery storage, and wind power. Its success will depend on economic conditions and future regulatory frameworks. At VSB, we maintain an ongoing dialogue with local communities to jointly develop stable, utility-scale renewable energy solutions. Projects like this would stand no chance without the consent and support of local stakeholders.โ
Dr. Felix Grolman, CEO of the VSB Group, mentioned, โWe are proud to actively contribute to the energy transition with this flagship photovoltaic project โ one of the largest in Poland. It embodies the scale and ambition needed to drive meaningful change, while enhancing energy security in Poland and across Europe. This solar park marks a significant milestone on that journey.โ
This ground-mounted photovoltaic park will be one of the largest currently under development and construction in Poland, further strengthening the countryโs renewable energy infrastructure. This solar project also marks VSB Polandโs second major renewable energy initiative in recent years. It follows the development and launch of the Miejska Gรณrka wind project, which, with an installed capacity of 190.8 megawatts, stands as the largest wind energy project in Poland to date. This was developed for Tauron Zielona Energia, a key client and partner of VSB.
