Shri Santosh Sarangi, Secretary of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), convened a meeting with the All India Discoms Association (AIDA) at Atal Akshay Urja Bhawan, New Delhi, to discuss critical challenges in renewable energy adoption and the implementation of flagship schemes such as PM-KUSUM and PMSGY. The meeting aimed to accelerate renewable energy projects to meet national targets.
Key discussion points included aligning Renewable Compliance Obligations (RCO) targets with State Electricity Regulatory Commission (SERC) regulations to facilitate renewable energy adoption and ensure effective fulfillment of RCO mechanisms. Participants also addressed procurement challenges and delays in power evacuation.
The session highlighted the importance of cost optimization in renewable energy integration and deliberated on Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) deployment under the PM-KUSUM scheme, focusing on addressing intermittency issues and the unique challenges faced by smaller and northeastern states under Component A.
Further discussions emphasized enabling Solar+BESS projects under the PMSGY scheme, with attention to state-specific concerns impacting successful implementation.
The meeting underscored the governmentโs commitment to overcoming operational barriers to fast-track renewable energy growth across India.
