Onix Renewable Wins SECI Auction For 50,000 MT GNFC Green Ammonia Project At ₹52.50/Kg

The Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd. (SECI) has successfully conducted an e-Reverse Auction on August 12, 2025, for Project-IV of Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers & Chemicals Limited (GNFC) in Bharuch. This auction was held under the SIGHT Scheme, Mode-2A-Tranche-I, which aims to facilitate the production and supply of green ammonia in India. The project covers a fixed quantity of 50,000 metric tonnes of green ammonia.

The bidding process began with a starting price of ₹80.50 per kg, which also served as the reserve price. After competitive bidding, Onix Renewable Limited emerged as the top bidder with a final price of ₹52.50 per kg, a significant reduction from the starting price. This outcome reflects the competitive nature of the auction and the growing capability of renewable energy companies to offer cost-effective solutions in the green ammonia segment.

The initiative is part of the government’s larger strategy to promote green energy and cut carbon emissions, encouraging industries to shift towards environmentally friendly production methods. Green ammonia, produced using renewable energy sources, plays an important role in reducing the carbon footprint of industries such as fertilizers, shipping, and chemicals.

The e-Reverse Auction was conducted under RfS No. SECI/C&P/MI/00/0002/2024-25, issued on June 7, 2024. The official snapshot of the results, dated August 12, 2025, provides the final details of the bids and confirms Onix Renewable Limited as the successful bidder. This project marks another milestone in India’s green energy journey, highlighting both technological progress and cost competitiveness in the renewable sector.
