Canadian Solar Inc. announced that e-STORAGE, part of its majority-owned subsidiary CSI Solar Co., Ltd., will introduce its next-generation modular battery, FlexBank 1.0, at RE+ in Las Vegas next week. The system is expected to be ready for deployment in 2026.

FlexBank 1.0 expands e-STORAGEโ€™s utility-scale energy storage portfolio with a scalable platform delivering up to 8.36 MWh of capacity. Its modular open-frame architecture allows each cabinet to function as an independent building block, simplifying logistics and installation. The platform also lays the groundwork for e-STORAGEโ€™s upcoming higher-amperage, large-format battery cell technologies, designed to deliver superior performance.

Based on e-STORAGEโ€™s proven 314Ah Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) cell technology, FlexBank 1.0 incorporates a multi-tiered protection system to enhance safety. Each cabinet features heat barriers, a three-level electrical protection system, and advanced cell-level precision management. The architecture prevents thermal propagation between cabinets, significantly reducing fire risk. Colin Parkin, President of e-STORAGE,ย stated, “FlexBank 1.0 is the strategic evolution of our utility-scale energy storage platform, engineered to address our customers’ critical needs for safe, adaptable, and cost-effective solutions. By dramatically simplifying deployment, we are providing a more reliable and adaptable technology that will accelerate the global transition to renewable energy and deliver tangible value for developers and investors.”

FlexBank 1.0 also features a skid-mounted design for rapid on-site assembly and flexible layout configurations, including side-by-side and back-to-back installations. This design reduces EPC costs, increases project energy density, and ensures compatibility with power conversion systems, enabling seamless integration for both new projects and site expansions.
