SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), a subsidiary of SJVN Limited, has issued a fresh tender for solar power projects in Maharashtra, targeting a total capacity of 733 MW (AC). This initiative is part of the Mukhya Mantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana (MSKVY) 2.0 and the PM-KUSUM Component C scheme, both of which aim to provide reliable daytime electricity to the agricultural sector. The projects will be distributed across 61 different sites within the state, reflecting a significant effort to expand renewable energy infrastructure while supporting farmers with a consistent power supply for irrigation and other agricultural needs.
The new tender follows a previous bidding process in which six groups of projects, cumulatively totaling 733 MW, remained unsubscribed. This fresh round of bidding seeks to award these remaining projects, accelerating Maharashtraโs transition toward renewable energy and enhancing the stateโs solar capacity. By focusing on projects that previously did not attract bids, SGEL aims to ensure that the benefits of solar power reach the agricultural sector more efficiently and on schedule.
The tender is structured as an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract, covering a wide scope of work. Contractors will be responsible for acquiring land, developing the solar power plants, establishing all necessary infrastructure, and ensuring the operational readiness of the projects. In addition, the winning bidder will manage the operation and maintenance (O&M) of the plants for a period of three years, ensuring that the facilities function efficiently and meet performance expectations. This approach allows SGEL to maintain high standards of quality and reliability while streamlining project execution through a single point of responsibility.
Bidders are required to submit their proposals online through the e-tendering portal by September 19, 2025. The techno-commercial bids will be opened on the same day to evaluate eligibility and technical compliance. However, the physical submission of bid documents is scheduled for September 26, 2025, giving participants sufficient time to complete all necessary formalities. These clear timelines are designed to ensure transparency and a structured evaluation process.
The tender also specifies financial requirements for bidders to demonstrate their commitment and capability. Each participant must provide an Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) of โน11.2 lakh per MW as bid security, a measure intended to ensure that only serious bidders participate. Additionally, the successful bidder will need to furnish a Performance Bank Guarantee (PBG) of โน27.05 lakh per MW before signing the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). These requirements aim to secure the projectโs execution and performance while minimizing risks associated with non-compliance or project delays.
Overall, this fresh tender by SGEL highlights the ongoing efforts in Maharashtra to expand renewable energy capacity, support the agricultural sector with reliable power, and strengthen the stateโs clean energy infrastructure. By offering a structured and transparent bidding process, SGEL aims to ensure successful project implementation and contribute meaningfully to Indiaโs renewable energy goals. The focus on both project development and three years of O&M emphasizes a long-term commitment to operational excellence and sustainable energy delivery.
