The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) reiterated its commitment to consumer empowerment and clean energy during a ceremonial event held on September 5, 2025, at the Crimson Hotel, Filinvest City, Alabang, Muntinlupa City. The event celebrated the transition of several Filinvest Group properties to new power supply models under the Retail Aggregation Program (RAP) and Green Energy Option Program (GEOP).
Organized by the FDC Retail Electricity Sales Corporation (FDC RES), the ceremony marked a significant milestone in advancing competition and renewable energy adoption. Under the new arrangements, four Filinvest facilities with a combined demand of 1 megawatt (MW) have joined the RAP, while six facilities have opted into the GEOP, reflecting a strong commitment to clean energy integration in business operations.
In his address, ERC Chairperson Juan highlighted that RAP and GEOP go beyond regulatory compliance, serving as tools to enhance consumer choice, inclusivity, and sustainability. He explained that RAP enables small and medium enterprises, campuses, and communities to aggregate their energy demand, unlocking economies of scale, reducing costs, and encouraging smarter energy consumption. On the other hand, GEOP allows end-users with at least 100 kilowatts of demand to directly procure power from renewable energy providers.
Chairperson Juan praised the Filinvest Group and FDC RES for their proactive efforts to incorporate renewable energy into their operations, making sustainable practices both viable and economically beneficial. He affirmed that the ERC would continue to support initiatives that expand access to competitive energy supply, promote regulatory adherence, and encourage environmental responsibility throughout Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
In closing, the ERC Chief emphasized that energy should be viewed not merely as a commodity but as a driver of development, equity, and resilience. He called on industry stakeholders and consumers alike to advocate for clean energy solutions, embrace empowerment opportunities, and work toward a future where sustainability becomes the standard practice.
