Verdant Energy has announced the successful acquisition of an 11 MW rooftop solar portfolio in Vietnam, marking a significant expansion of its renewable energy footprint in Southeast Asia.
The portfolio, comprising solar installations across 10 shopping malls, will directly supply renewable electricity to Central Retail’s operations. According to the company, the assets are expected to generate more than 11,700 MWh of clean energy annually, offsetting approximately 8,100 tons of carbon emissions each year.
This transaction builds on Verdant’s existing presence in Vietnam and underscores its strategy to scale clean energy solutions that enable businesses to cut costs, lower emissions, and achieve sustainability goals.
The acquisition was made possible through the collaboration of Norsk Renewables, Norfund, and Finnfund. Verdant noted that the deal not only strengthens its rooftop solar portfolio but also expands its customer base beyond the industrial sector, positioning the company to meet the evolving energy needs of future commercial off-takers.
