Iberdrola España, the company’s Spanish subsidiary, has installed a photovoltaic self-consumption system at the lower house of the Spanish Parliament. The project includes three solar installations with a total of 112 panels, which will generate approximately 90 MWh of electricity annually—enough to cover the energy needs of offices and meeting rooms.

The solar panels were carefully integrated into the congress’ extension buildings, preserving the aesthetics of the historic site while combining modern technology with the existing architecture. Photovoltaic self-consumption systems can deliver significant savings: around 30% on annual bills for condominiums, 50% for companies, and up to 70% for single-family homes. These savings are achieved through three mechanisms: using self-generated energy instead of purchasing it from the grid, compensation for surplus energy fed back into the grid, and reductions in taxes.

Iberdrola is the leading provider of photovoltaic self-consumption solutions in Spain. This project aligns with the company’s commitment to accelerating electrification, promoting energy efficiency, and developing innovative products that enable cost savings and sustainable energy use.
